  1. The new marina extension will provide up to 70 new day moorage slips to help alleviate the current 5 year moorage backlog and facilitate docking for a passenger ferry and charter boats to Vancouver.

  2. The new accessible Seawalk extension provided by the developer will create a contiguous path from the Town to the Gibsons Marina and Public Market, a major benefit for waterfront pedestrian foot traffic.

  3. The George Marine hotel will contribute thousands of dollars per year to the new Regional Hotel Marketing Tax (MDRT) benefiting Sunshine Coast Tourism, helping them to sustain its national and international advertising and promotion programs.

  4. The developer’s financial contribution to update Winegarden Park, will help provide a new performance stage and landscaping upgrades.

  5. Construction will generate over 250 man-years of direct and spin-off employment, injecting an estimated $54million in wages into the local economy.

  6. Increased spending by hotel and marina visitors will benefit all businesses and service providers in Gibsons and area, estimated at over $14million per annum.

  7. The new 111-room George resort hotel will be a tourist destination for the Sunshine Coast providing much-needed year round hotel accommodation for Gibsons and region as well as generate dozens of full time, managerial, and seasonal employment. Hospitality industry job training will also be provided to enhance career advancement.
