Sunshine Coast fixed link options explored

October 30, 2016

The provincial government held an open house this week in Gibsons to review possible fixed link solutions to the Sunshine Coast. The scenarios included a bridge connection from the Lions Bay area across Anvil Island to just north of Port Mellon, or a road connection via Squamish. Good news for the future George, Gibsons luxury waterfront condominiums. .

Ryan Medd, founder of the group Sunshine Coast Tolled Fixed Link, feels the Anvil Island bridge will be the most practical solution. Oddvin Vedoe, former SCRD economic development officer agrees. Vedoe reports in his blog, “If you look at Vancouver as a pressure cooker of waterfront real estate, the Sunshine Coast is the safety valve. People will be able to come and go when they want to. Businesses can locate and relocate here without depending on the ferries.” A final report will be available by the end of 2016.

The open house information sessions reported the Anvil Island bridge link, or road option, would boost economic development, tourism and Sunshine Coast residential property values.

Located on prime Gibsons waterfront property in the heart of Gibsons Landing, the future George Gibsons waterfront residences will represent the ultimate in five-star condo living. The limited collection luxury waterfront condominiums will feature high quality urban designed interiors, European-style fixtures, concierge services, access to a 10,000 sf Spa and Wellness Centre, and a full service marina.
